    1. Description

    PU to Metal Bonding Agent 841 a single-coat adhesive used to bond various elastomer compounds to substrates during the vulcanization process. It is composed of a mixture of polymers, organic compounds and inorganic fillers dissolved or dispersed in an organic solvent system. This adhesive system will bond compounds based on Cast polyurethane (CPU) and Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) polymers to metal. 841 is a surface treatment agent for bonding of polyurethane elastomer-to-metal.

    Equivalent to Cilbond 49, Thixon 406.

     

    2. Applicable Range

    Used as a single-coat adhesive and in combination with a primer adhesive.

    Suitable for the following types of elastomer:

    Cast polyurethane (CPU), Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), etc.

    Suitable for the following substrates:

    Metal: carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and various alloys, etc.

    5. Application

    • Stirring: During the storage process, there will be some precipitation at the bottom of the container of 841, before applying, it should be fully stirred to achieve uniform mixing before use. If the gluing process is long, it should be stirred for 3-5 minutes at an interval of 2 hours.
    • Diluting: According to the actual operation needs, this product can also add diluent for appropriate dilution. It is recommended to dilute the diluted product according to the amount used. The diluted product cannot be stored for a long time.
    • Brush coating method: no dilution is required.
    • Roller coating method: no dilution is required.
    • Dip: 100 parts of 841 plus about 40-70 parts of diluent.
    • Spray method: 100 parts 841 plus about 40-70 parts diluent.
    • Coating: This product can be applied by brush coating, dip coating, roll coating, spray coating and other methods. Coating should be uniform to avoid excessive spillover.
    • Single coating: Dry film thickness(DFT) 15-30μm;
    • Drying: At 25°C, drying takes about 45-60 minutes. When forced drying, to avoid the formation of bubbles in the adhesive film, it is necessary to gradually raise the temperature to 60°C.
    • Pre drying: In order to ensure that this product is firmly bonded to the substrate in advance, the minimum pre curing condition is 100°C for 1 hour, but it is recommended to wait for 2 hours. Longer pre curing (4-8 hours at 100°C) can achieve maximum adhesive strength, adhesion, heat resistance, and environmental resistance. Higher temperatures and longer durations will not reduce the effectiveness of 841 performance but cannot exceed 48 hours at 100°C; Cannot exceed 24 hours at 110°C; 120°C cannot exceed 15 hours; Exceeding 130°C must be carefully controlled.
    • Product storage: This product should be stored in dry and normal temperature environments, avoid long-term exposure to high humidity and high temperature environments.
    • Cleaning: Before heating vulcanization, dip a rag in 2-Butanone solvent to remove excess treatment agent spilt around. Once cured, solvent cannot be removed.
    • Vulcanization: Simultaneous vulcanization of polyurethane elastomer and treatment agent can achieve the best adhesive performance, and the actual vulcanization conditions are the same as those of polyurethane materials. The effect is better when the vulcanization temperature is above 75°C.

     

    7. Shelf Life/Storage

    Shelf life is 12 months from date of shipment when stored at 21-27°C (70-80°F) in original, unopened container. Do not store or use near heat, sparks or open flame.


    8. Precautions

    • This product is volatile, please close the container after use.
    • Solvent steam is harmful, pay attention to fire prevention in the workplace, pay attention to low ventilation, prevent long-term inhalation or long-term skin contact.
